The Institute for Gender and the Economy (GATE) has the distinct mission of sponsoring, convening and translating rigorous research in order to change the conversation on gender equality. Throughout 2017, we worked tirelessly to create new insights, shape practice, train leaders,  and continue to build our community of researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and students.

“It will be hard to make further progress on gender equality if we continue to do the same old things within the same old system.” Sarah Kaplan

2017 was marked by several high-profile media appearances in outlets such as the Globe and Mail and the Toronto Star; a testimony by Director Sarah Kaplan before the Standing Senate Committee on Banking, Trade, and Commerce; hosting thought leaders, such as Aaron Dhir and Sallie Krawcheck, for engaging events; and launching the course, Designing for Equality, with 20 MBA students.
