About Bashir
Bashir Chalabi is a Summer Intern at the Institute for Gender and the Economy (GATE) and an MBA student at the Rotman School of Management. Bashir sees elimination of gender inequality in economy as an integral component of global sustainability agenda. He took assignment with GATE to help improving business community’s awareness about the existing gaps in this field, and to be instrumental in development of tools for their elimination on practice.
Prior to his arrival to Rotman, Bashir was the Head of Environment and Energy Efficiency Practice at TIAR Center, Russia’s first public affairs firm specialized on sustainability-related projects, and worked as the Head of Regulatory Affairs at Hill+Knowlton Strategies’ Moscow office. He also was the Chair of Energy Efficiency Committee at the Association of European Businesses in Russia.
Before starting his business career, Bashir carried out legal history research at the Russian Academy of Sciences and was a university lecturer, teaching courses in humanities.
Bashir holds BA in Philosophy from Lomonosov Moscow State University and PhD from the Russian Academy of Sciences’ Institute of State and Law.
